The township was established in 1823, having previously been a part of the Town of Palmyra. With the completion of the Barge Canal(now known as the Erie Canal) in 1825, Macedon became a canal port. Today lock #30 of the Barge Canal System, located just off Route 350, can view an operating lock. Newly created trails line the Barge canal for hiking or bicycling. |
